In today’s blog, I will talk about the Lync Room System. Prior to the LRS, there was not any proper video teleconferencing solutions. Users had to bring their own devices such as laptops to the meeting rooms and then connecting them to the projectors for display.
Lync Room System is a meeting room solution consisting of integrated hardware and software delivered by our partners and optimized to join Lync meetings. With Lync Room System you can join an online meeting with one touch and be ready to collaborate with remote attendees in seconds. LRS is a device from Microsoft partners like Crestron Electronics, Lifesize, Polycom, and SMART Technologies that runs skype for business conferencing software.
LRS is based of embedded Windows 7 with one or two large High Definition (HD) displays with touchscreen functionality and built-in wide-angle cameras. It comes with required connectors so that users can connect to this device and upload presentations or documents.
Some features of LRS are:
- High definition touch displays (1080p) for showing video and enabling collaboration
- Available with 1 or 2 front of room touch displays depending on your room size
- High definition video camera
- Wideband audio for clear sound
- Table-top touch meeting console to enable the meeting controller to manage the meeting
When the device is switched on, a home screen is displayed which is just like a calendar showing a list of meetings. The device can be controlled via the UI or the desktop controller.
It offers a very familiar skype for business interface which helps the end users to get accustomed with this device.
LRS can be configured using the Lync room system administrative portal. This portal is not deployed through Skype for Business. It can be downloaded from here.
