Becoming a great workplace trainer starts with three words (Part 3)

 Jul 16, 2014

To conclude this series (click here to read Part 1 and Part 2), I want to discuss the importance of ‘commitment’ in the context of becoming a great workplace trainer. Let’s start at the beginning by addressing the ‘where’ question. Where does this high level of commitment to consistently deliver high quality workplace training sessions come from? It comes from believing that their training sessions will make a positive, defining difference to the people who attend them. It comes from being committed to helping people develop. It comes from being committed to helping people perform better in their job. For some workplace trainers, this high-level of commitment comes straight from their heart. For other workplace trainers, it comes from their head. When commitment comes from the heart it tends to be relentless, endless, and without restraint. When it comes from the head, it lends itself to being more transactional, more timed, and more measured. These two types of ‘commitment’ are being demonstrated by workplace trainers right now in training rooms across the country and across the world. In the extreme, both levels would miss the mark as the goal is to demonstrate both types of commitment in your training sessions. So let’s have a look at some actions that I recommend you commit to before your training session. I have prioritised them to keep it real. From the head: Becoming a great workplace trainer starts with three words (Part 3)So, let’s now have a look at some actions that I recommend you commit to during your training session. Again, I have prioritised them to keep it real. From the head and from the heart: Becoming a great workplace trainer starts with three words (Part 3)Finally, let’s have a look at some actions that I recommend you commit to after your training session has concluded. Once more, I have prioritised them to keep it real. From the head and from the heart: Becoming a great workplace trainer starts with three words (Part 3)So please remember this piece on commitment; let commitment flow from your head and from your heart into your training sessions, and you will become a great workplace trainer.
