THIS COURSE IS A COMBINATION OF 5177, 5178 & MICROSOFT OCSR2 COURSES.
This five-day instructor-led course covers instant messaging functionalities, planning and deployment and how to implement and maintain a presence/Video Conferencing and telephony solution using Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 & Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. The first part of the course introduces the OCS 07 architecture in the Standard and Enterprise Editions implementation. The focus is on the instant messaging, presence, SIP and Federation features and the role of server components in both standard and enterprise instant messaging solutions. In the second part of this course, the focus is on developing skills and knowledge to plan, deploy and manage audio/visual and Web conferencing in OCS 2007. The final part of the course covers topics relating to the new product release OCS 2007 R2.

The audience for this course is IT Professional infrastructure specialists. This includes real-time communications Technology Specialists and Professional Engineers. In addition, IT Professionals in any job role that interacts with Office Communications Server 2007, Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, and Microsoft Exchange Server will benefit from the course.

Module 1: Implementing & Deploying an instant messaging solution by using Office Communication Server 2007 Standard Edition
Office Communications Server 2007 Standard Edition supports an instant messaging solution that provides the users in your organization with one-to-one instant messaging, group instant messaging, and file transfer. This module describes how to deploy an Instant Messaging solution with Office Communications Server 2007 Standard Edition. The module also introduces the Active Directory design and network requirements, and security requirements that you should consider when planning your deployment. Finally, the module describes how to share Server 2007 Address Book Server, which can be accomplished by using internal sources such as Active Directory distribution lists, or by using external sources such as public instant messaging user accounts.

Module 2: Using instant messaging and presence information
Office Communications Server 2007 supports three clients: Office Communicator 2007, Microsoft Web Communicator 2007, and Microsoft Mobile Communicator 2007. Office Communications Server 2007 also supports Microsoft Communicator Automation application programming interface (API). These APIs integrate presence and collaboration features in applications and provide enhanced collaboration capabilities to users. This module introduces the client applications and describes how to add new contacts, send instant messages, or find contact information. This module also describes how an Office Communications Server 2007 instant messaging solution enables users to assign presence levels to their contacts, to filter presence information, to find contacts across various application platforms and use this information to communicate and schedule meetings with their contacts.

The Enterprise Edition of Office Communications Server 2007 provides a scalable instant messaging solution for real-time communication among users. By using Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition users can securely access internal servers by using remote user access, connect to external users in a federated external network, and communicate with their instant messaging contacts by using various public instant messaging services and clients. This module introduces students to the steps in implementing an Instant Messaging solution by using Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition.

Module 1: Determining the implementation requirement for on-premise conferencing
The way people work has changed in the last few decades as technology has enabled greater mobility. While this mobility can offer tremendous benefits to both employees and the organizations for which they work, it does present some challenges. The need to communicate effectively with work colleagues does not diminish with distance. If two or more employees need to meet in order to progress a project, collaborate on documents, or simply share ideas, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 can enable them to do so by providing support for on-premise conferencing. On-premise conferencing provides a number of benefits over hosted conferencing solutions.
In order to implement Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, you must make some changes to Active Directory, and deploy additional application servers, such as Internet Information Server, SQL Server 2005, and Exchange Server 2007.

The Enterprise Edition of Office Communications Server is better suited to larger organizations as it offers support for more users, and flexible server configuration options. For example, you can install all the Office Communications Server services on a single server, or group of servers; alternatively, you can deploy conferencing components to separate server computers in load-balanced pools. Enterprise Edition provides the capability to more easily scale to support more users as your needs change. In addition, because you must install the SQL Server component on a separate physical computer, you can provide resilience at the back-end by clustering this SQL Server.

Module 4: Deploying and Configuring participant clients for on-premise conference
To participate in an on-premise conference, you must typically install some software onto your users’ workstation computers. Microsoft provides three client programs for use with Office Communication Server 2007: Office Communicator 2007, Office Live Meeting 2007, and Office Live Meeting Add-In for Office Outlook 2007.

Module 5: Working with on-premise web and audio/ video conferencing
Office Communications Server 2007 supports the creation of both scheduled and unscheduled web-conferences by using Microsoft Office Live Meeting Add-In for Office Outlook 2007. Users participating in an on-premise web-conference can collaborate and share their data by using Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. You can use Group Policies to control how users share their data and to specify additional settings for an on-premise conference.
Office Communications Server 2007 also supports audio/video conferencing. Users can create audio/video conferences by using a variety of hardware components, including Microsoft Office Roundtable.
