Microsoft’s
forthcoming release of SQL Server 2008 will cement its position as the leading
Enterprise Data Platform. Building upon the success of the SQL Server 2005
product this new release will see enhanced capabilities and features in all
areas of the product. This seminar aims to introduce and explain the new and enhanced tools and technologies that SQL Server 2008 can offer an organisation. The session will address the three pillars of the SQL Server product: Administration, Development and Business Intelligence. For Administrators we will cover topics such as centralized management, data compression and encryption and the new performance enhancements. Database Developers will be introduced to the new features of Management Studio, new Transact-SQL capabilities and changes to the data structures and types available within the product. For those with an interest in the Business Intelligence tools we will look at enhancements to Integration Services, Analysis Services and the revolutionary changes to Reporting Services. To complete the seminar we will cover the training offerings available from New Horizons to assist the attendees get up to speed on the new concepts and technologies. The expected duration for the seminar is 2 hours with a short break after the first hour for Tea/Coffee/Muffins. |

Guest Speaker Biography - Mark Morton. Mark Morton is a familiar face in the Australian Microsoft SQL Server community. Mark works for Zap Technology, a Brisbane based ISV and Professional Services company that focuses on Performance Management and in particular the Microsoft Business Intelligence product suite. He carries two business cards whilst working for Zap ,firstly he is the organisation’s Global Training Manager overseeing all aspects of the educational and technical presentation of the Zap product suite and associated technologies. He also carries the role of Lead Architect which has him involved him in the development, implementation and management of Zap Technology’s many and varied BI solutions. Mark is a regular speaker at SQL Server user-groups and Microsoft TechED and is a long standing Microsoft Certified Trainer. |
