SharePoint 2016 – Quick facts

 Dec 18, 2015

The next release of on premises SharePoint will be SharePoint 2016. Microsoft aims to improve the hybrid cloud integration with this release of SharePoint.

In today’s blog post, I will discuss some quick facts on SharePoint 2016.

  • SharePoint 2016 will be based on a new application framework that will allow non-developers to generate .NET objects by simply dragging and dropping components onto the SharePoint environment. The system will generate application code in the background.

  • Now the customers will be able to synchronise documents from there on premises infrastructure to SharePoint 2016. This synchronisation process can be scheduled using jobs.
  • SharePoint 2016 will also offer an enhanced page creation process. Now publishers can create highly enhanced pages with more effects but with less number of clicks.
  • SharePoint will be able to convert raw video formats in new splash based delivery format which offers better rendering of video content.
  • SharePoint 2016 will also offer an enhanced cloud experience. A new compliance centre will offer compliance settings and hybrid e-eDiscovery. It will also have unified search centre. Now you will be able to search on-premises and cloud data from one search centre.

Some other features include, enhanced data loss prevention, high-level data encryption, improved reporting capabilities and improved mobile experiences.
