This 1-day instructor-led course teaches how to build conversational message bots with Microsoft and Google. We use a range of bot technology components, including Bot Service, Intents, Agents, Responses, Dialogues and Web Services. Azure Bot Service and Google Cloud provide integrated bot development and hosting environments for conversational bots that can reach customers across multiple channels.  Bots provide a conversational interface that accepts input in different modalities including text, speech, cards, or images. The Azure Bot Service offers fourteen channels to interact with users including Cortana, Facebook Messenger and Skype. The bot can help the user complete some tasks, answer questions, or even chit chat through action handlers. This course offers an overview of these services, providing the knowledge necessary to design bot solutions properly. It also includes several demonstrations and labs that enable students to develop hands-on skills that are necessary when implementing conversational message bot solutions.

This is a Premium New Horizons course. This course usually runs in a connected classroom, and students need to bring their own device.

This module provides an overview of Azure Bot services, including LUIS, and customer experience. It also describes Azure Bot Service components and typical deployment methods, while focussing on conversational messaging systems intents and deployments.

These Business and IT professionals have broadly applicable business and IT skills, and they generally have worked for both enterprise-level organisations and small and medium business environments.

More specifically, the intended audience includes:

  • IT professionals who have used Databases or Web applications.
  • IT professionals who have used Azure and Cognitive Services.
  • DevOps or IT administrators who are looking to gain knowledge in AI systems to support
  • Executives, Business Analytics, Project Managers who want to understand the ROI and use cases for chatbots, but with a level 100 dive into actually building and deploying conversational message bots
  • DevOps personnel who are considering deploying conversational message bots
  • IT professionals and DevOps personnel who are experienced in other non-Microsoft cloud chatbot technologies, who meet the course prerequisites, and how are looking to cross-train on Azure

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • An understanding of cloud technologies, such as Azure and Google including virtual machines, cloud networking, security, cloud and cognitive services
  • An understanding of networking configuration, including TCP/IP, SSL, VPNs, tokens, and API technologies.
  • An understanding of web applications, including creating, configuring, monitoring, and deploying web applications on Azure.
  • An understanding of Azure Active Directory concepts.
  • Knowledge of chatbots.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like C#.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing basics.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the core concepts of Azure Bot Services and Luis.
  • Explain the primary methods for implementing conversational messaging using webchat and other channels in Microsoft and other environments
