Data is a big deal. A really big deal, especially when it comes to business. This course is for those who love problem solving and want to be part of the biggest revolution in business today. This course takes students behind the scenes of managing data, and will give you all the knowledge and expertise you need to be able to design and develop complex ICT database systems.

What you will study

This course covers the essential skills in planning, managing and maintaining database management systems. You’ll learn how to organise data, design data support solutions and develop security processes and procedures. The skills you learn are those required of database designers and developers in corporate IT teams, data warehousing teams and data and analytics consultancies.

How you can study

Classes are run using a range of flexible delivery models. Some classes are instructor led (in-class or online ) whilst others are self-managed online study. You can plan your-own timetable based on scheduled class times within the 12-month period. We recommend you plan this with a Student Support Officer when commencing your study.

Location

This course can be studied in SydneyBrisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years or over
  • Students must be an Australian citizen or resident
  • Students must have completed their final year of secondary schooling or equivalent
  • Students must complete a Learning, Literacy & Numeracy assessment

Tuition Fees and Payment Options

Course fees are fixed for the duration of your enrolment. The total tuition fees payable for this qualification are: AUD$11,400

All materials and exam fees are included in the cost, and tuition fees are GST Exempt.

You can elect to pay via:

  • Self-funding, where you pay your own fees by credit card, direct debit or cash
  • Pay by Instalment with 50% on commencement and the balanced paid in quarterly instalments
  • VET Student Loans, which is an Australian Government income contingent loan

This Diploma course is eligible for a VET Student Loan from the Australian Government to assist you with paying for your tuition fees. VET Student Loan is an Australian Government Loan program available to Australian Citizens. For the ICT50515 – Diploma of Database Design and Development, you can borrow a $10,000 VET Student Loan, which you will be required to pay back once you are earning above a certain threshold.

The balance of the tuition fees can be made with $200 up front and $100 every month over the 12 month period. You can pay the remaining balance in one lump sum if preferred.

Assessment Methods

Students studying the ICT50515 – Diploma of Database Design and Development will be assessed via

  • project work
  • instructor observations; and
  • theory based assessments

To also gain the vendor certifications available through this qualification students must sit and pass the related exams. Vendor Certifications are a recommended, optional element of the program but not necessary to gain the Qualification.

Course Credit

Students may apply for course credit if they can demonstrate the required skills and knowledge. Speak with a Student Support Officer for more information.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Database Design and Development can lead to a range of possible career opportunities including database developer, data warehousing or project manager.

How you can study

Students are required to attend class at least two days per week and will be required to complete self-paced study activities outside class-time. Students should expect to spend at least 20 hours per week studying, plus additional time required to complete assessments.

Duration

This course is conducted over 48 weeks. There are four study terms of 8 weeks each. There is a 1 week holiday mid term, and 4 weeks holiday between terms.

Location

All classes are conducted from our CBD premises in the heart of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years or over.
  • Students must have completed their final year of secondary schooling or equivalent.
  • Students need to be able to demonstrate an IELTS score of 5.5 overall, with a minimum of 5 in any one band, or equivalent.

Tuition Fees and Payment Options

Course fees are fixed for the duration of your enrolment. The total tuition fees payable for this qualification are: AUD$12,000

There is a non-refundable Enrolment fee of AUD$350 non-refundable Enrolment fee.

There is also a Materials fee of AUD$500.

Students are required to pay 50% of the tuition fee, plus the Enrolment and Material Fees on Commencement.

After 50% completion of the course, students are required to pay the outstanding balance.

To gain the vendor certifications available through this qualification you must sit and pass the related exams. This is a recommended, optional element of the program but is not required in order to gain the qualification.
